Austin Jewelry Designer Kendra Scott Opens New Store

It has been about nine years since Kendra Scott made her move in the jewelry business in Austin. At that time she was peddling her wares in a tea box with a few baubles along with her young son on her hip. Years later and a string of incredible successes…like her collection in Henri Bendel in New York, Harolds, mentions in all the major fashion magazines, appearances with Rachel Ray and The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, you could say the rest is fashion history.
The one thing that was missing for Kendra was a special place to sell her jewelry to the public. Her business model is selling wholesale and she wanted to expand so that she could have that one-on-one experience with her customers. Kendra said that she had looked for quite a long time to find the perfect space for her boutique and finally the South Congress space is her new home. It will house the retail operation and the upstairs space will serve as Kendra’s office and design studio.
The focal point at the boutique is the color bar. I actually saw how the color bar worked when Kendra was in New York during fashion week last September. Her Austin color bar is tricked out with everything you need to create your own one-of-a-kind necklace, matching earrings, etc. You pick the colors, shapes, stones and walk out the store with your creation. You can also do it online! Pretty cool.
Kendra is also expanding into fine jewelry and recently launched her “I Do” bridal collection. And she also mentioned that handbags, shoes and more are on the horizon for the Kendra Scott brand.
A February fashion event is being planned, so stay tuned details to come for a big Austin celebration.www.kendrascott.com
